Tracy Wares is an award winning director and producer who’s filmed on six continents and whose cutting edge work has aired on ABC, PBS, CW, TNT, Sundance, Nat Geo, Discovery, A&E Bio, WEtv, Trio, TLC, VICELAND.
Since 2014 she’s created a slate of documentaries for VICE Media. Some of her work there includes the POLITICS OF FOOD and BONG APPETIT series for their food vertical Munchies, OVARY ACTION for their women’s interest vertical Broadly, as well as acting as a series producer for their TV network VICELAND. At VICE she also created branded content, including short documentaries for FOX’s TV series “The Exorcist” and STARZ “The Girlfriend Experience”.
POLITICAL ANIMALS, a feature documentary she directed about four women who pioneered LGBT rights, won both the Jury and Audience Awards for Best Documentary at the 2016 LA Film Festival and has garnered 11 awards in the US and overseas. She was producer and cinematographer for BOMB IT, a feature documentary about street art around the globe, which premiered at Tribeca in 2007.
Her commitment to social justice and extensive overseas experience includes working two years in Thailand with Burmese refugees and grassroots organizations to document human rights abuses, as well as a year in India training citizen journalists as a Clinton Fellow. She continues to travel the world making documentaries and television programming.
