Riggen was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. While in her home country she gained experience in journalism and writing for documentaries. She later moved to New York City, where she received her Master’s degree in direction and screenwriting at Columbia University. In 2007, La Misma Luna, Riggen’s first major film, was released, starring Kate Del Castillo, Eugenio Derbez, and America Ferrera. She followed that film up with Revolución (2010), and in 2010 she was chosen to direct the 2011 Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth. In 2012, her film Girl in Progress starring Eva Mendes and Patricia Arquette was released. Her latest film, The 33, stars Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, Juliette Binoche, and Lou Diamond Philips. Patricia Riggen’s most recent film, titled Miracles from Heaven and starring Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah, was released earlier this year. Patricia currently lives in Los Angeles.
