Carolyn Corben’s work is distinctive and jaw-droppingly creative, highlighted with bright colors, choreographed action, strong visual effects and mood-setting narrative. For the last eight years, Carolyn has directed TV commercials in her native UK and beyond for such global brand names as Gordon’s Gin, Honda, Skittles, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Swatch, Head & Shoulders and many more. Carolyn has also lent her directing talent and design driven perspective to many music videos for legendary music artists Elton John, George Michael, The Scissor Sisters, Shirley Bassey, and Siouxsie Sioux. The director first defined her expansive creative palette as part of a design company, The New Renaissance, which she formed with her colleague, Harvey Betram-Brown. The dynamic pair designed window displays, fashion and homeware collections, costumes and film sets for clients such as Harvey Nichols, Moschino, Speedo and Henri Bendels. They invented characters for the national weather station, bringing natural phenomenons to life with actors dressed in beautiful, elaborate costumes representing the sun, wind, rain, and clouds. As part of the directing duo, Carolyn was featured in Campaign Magazine’s list of “Hot Directors, ” and Saatchi and Saatchi’s “New Directors” showcase at the Cannes film festival.
