Alyssa “Ally” Pankiw is a Canadian writer/director, who works in both Toronto and LA. She got her start as part of a directing collective called the Young Astronauts, with whom she directed and produced music videos for artists like Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Janelle Monae, Arkells, The Vamps and Lil Jon. Since then, she has been conquering the commercial space — working with top brands like Pepsi, Amazon, Benefit, Nylon, Chanel and Nasty Gal.
Most recently, Ally has begun working in film and TV. She served as a story editor on the second and third seasons of CBC and Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek,” and is now developing an original comedy with its star, Dan Levy. She has also directed behind-the-scenes work for Amazon and Tig Notaro’s “One Missippi,” a music segment for the finale of NBC’s “The Voice” and most recently, a new digital comedy series for the CBC called “Terrific Women.”
In 2015, Ally’s Bravo-funded short film, Stake, played a variety of international festivals and she was honored in 2016 with grants from BravoFACT, the Harold Greenberg Fund and Inside Out’s Short to Feature Award for her feature, The Inherent Traits of Connor James. She is currently developing her next film in Canada with the Harold Greenberg team and Barn 12 producer James Weyman, who previously managed the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
