Alexa Karolinski is a German-Canadian filmmaker living in Los Angeles and Berlin. She moves between the worlds of fine art, cinema and commercial video.
Her first feature documentary Oma & Bella premiered at the Berlin film festival, and was shown in cinemas and on TV world wide. She self-published an accompanying cookbook that sold of out of 3 editions.
Since 2013, Alexa has been producing and directing the videos for the fashion brand Eckhaus Latta. Together with the fashion house, she has shown work at the Museum of Art and Design in New York, Moma-PS1, MOCA L.A. and Gallery Isabella Bortolozzi in Berlin. She also directed the trailer video for the 2016 Made in LA show at the Hammer in Los Angeles.
In 2016 she premiered the film Army of Love at the Berlin Biennale. Army of Love is an ongoing collaboration with writer/artist Ingo Niermann.
Her fashion and commercial films have been featured on Vogue, W, Nowness, Dazed & Confused, Showstudio, ID, New York Times T Magazine, Vice, Fader, Purple, Novembre, 032c, Vmag, Vman, CR Fashionbook and pretty much all others!
She is currently finishing up her second feature documentary in collaboration with the German TV station ZDF, as well as writing her first narrative film.
