Colorist Ashley Ayarza’s passion for crafting beautiful imagery began with an interest in still photography, igniting an interest in lighting and color. She began exploring the moving image when studying art history and film at Northwestern, and following a short stint as a runner, Ashley was drawn into the art of color grading, learning under senior artists at The Mill.

In 2015, Ashley joined Nice Shoes, where she has been working with the renowned staff of senior colorists as well as clients to further hone her craft. She has collaborated with a variety of clients including The New York Times, Google, Rooftop Films, CNN, and most notably, graded director Dan Taberski’s SXSW-winning documentary “These C*cksucking Tears,” which highlighted the career of Patrick Haggerty, who wrote, sang, and released the first gay-themed country music album in 1973.
